MULTICULTURAL BOOK & TOY LIBRARY

All families with black children of mixed heritage living in Oxfordshire are welcome to join as well as all local residents, regardless of racial or cultural background, who live in the Blackbird Leys or Greater Leys area of Oxford. Come along and see the range of books and toys on offer, and join the library too.
The books include storyboard books for a young baby through to novels for teenagers. The group is particularly proud of the number of books about black history and famous black people that can help to educate us about their important contribution to the United Kingdom, both in history and in contemporary society. The toys reflect a celebration of multicultural Britain, with a number of puzzles, dolls and toys that can help with the acquisition of language and an understanding of numbers. The group intend to hold further fundraising events to continue to develop the library and widen its membership.
The library moved at the end of February 2008 to our new premises at The Leys News, Kingfisher Green, Greater Leys, Oxford. The cost of membership is £5 per family and any item can be hired for two weeks for just 10p.
