Introduction
Life experiences, including school, home and community life, can all impact on a person’s confidence and they may find themselves displaying patterns of behaviour that cause them to continue to make choices in life that are unhelpful to their own wellbeing and those around them.
These courses provide an opportunity to reflect on how they may have adopted particular traits, helping them to realise they can be the change they wish to see in their lives. The material in each course provides them with an opportunity to consider what self-esteem is and the impact it can have on a person’s life if they have low self-esteem. There is an opportunity to consider significant life events that contribute to this view of them self and as they work through the course material they can begin to shed negative thoughts, values and beliefs and become the person they are capable of being.
The activities and worksheets for each session are attractively laid out, using colour, cartoons and pictures, to encourage participants to engage in, complete the activities and worksheets, and achieve the qualification. They will build up a folder of evidence that will not only cover the learning outcomes but will also provide them with a useful resource. If they ever doubt their capabilities or begin to focus on negative thoughts and actions, they can use this folder to remind them of the strategies and tools they have identified to help them. They offer a cost-effective way of supporting the learner to move on positively in their life and gain a qualification and certificate.
Each accredited course includes a CD-ROM that the facilitator can use to print all the course handouts and as each course is valid for five years from the date of accreditation (the publication date), it becomes a very cost-effective resource.
